Pip's Donuts, Multnomah Falls, Meatballs and More

Portland: the city filled with food, fun, and... Segways?
     Let me tell you more...

One day in early April, while family was visiting, we went to some of our favorite spots in Portland. We did:

The first place we went that day was Pip's Donuts. Not only does Pip's have INCREDIBLE donuts, they also make a great chai, coffee and kids warm drinks. And the area is very beautiful, modern and good to go to with multiple people. Now, let's get back to the donuts.
Their donut flavors include:
  • Cinnamon Sugar
  • Raw Honey and Sea Salt
  • Nutella and Sea Salt (in the front of the 3rd pic)

  • The Dirty Wu (cinnamon sugar, honey, and drizzled nutella)

  • Seasonal flavor (in the back of 3rd photo) , when we were there in the beginning of April, it was Meyer Lemon!!!
  • My favorite, Candied Maple Bacon!

The warm donuts are even better with a nice cup of chai or vanilla steamer.

Afterwards, we drove down to Multnomah Falls.

When we got there, I (of course!) was underdressed and basically shivering from the strong winds!

At the bottom of the waterfall, there was a plaque ( in pic below) that had an article about a wedding couple that came to the Falls and went on the bridge. While taking photos up there, a HUGE, bus-sized boulder crashed down to the pool below! The wedding party, and others, got SOAKED! Twenty were injured, but fortunately nobody was seriously injured!

That must have made one heck of a wedding photo!

Everybody, except my mom who stayed with our dog, Bailey, went up on the bridge, and beyond on the hike.

Sadly, though, I inherited my parent's fear of heights, so I barely made it three minutes on the hike before getting too scared and heading back down.

The waterfall sprayed us with so much mist that my face looks so funny in this pic above!

While waiting for everybody else at the bottom of the Falls, my mom, Bailey and I tried to find the tiny, ADORABLE chipmunks that ran all around there!

When we all grouped back at the bottom of the falls, we then hopped back in the car to go out for some lunch around Gleason Street and 24th.

On the way back, Bailey fell asleep on my cousin's shoulder! That is just SO sweet!

When there, we noticed these adorable painted walls!

"Hey Girl"!

Since we were around that food area on 24th, OF COURSE we had to go to 24th and Meatballs! It was so good!

It was also a really cute area, so a great place to have lunch!

I had the "Pasta and Balls" (funny name!), with penne pasta, the classic Italian meatballs and the tomato basil sauce on top!

I love how they title all the food with cute names.

And of course Bailey wanted some!

Most of us had 24th and Meatballs, while my mom got some Indian from a place nearby, then came and ate with us at 24th.

After lunch, we walked over to the food hall called Providore, where we bought some baked treats and bread! They also have really beautiful flower bouquets.

Then, after walking around, we stopped at home for a few before heading back out for a SEGWAY TOUR!

Oliver (my brother), my mom and I had already gone on a segway tour, so we remembered the basic tricks of the trade. But it really is very easy to ride a segway, you literally lean forward (pretty much think "forward") and you go straight ahead. At first it seems hard and maybe even scary, but we all got the hang of it within about 5-10 minutes!

We went all around downtown Portland, going to all the popular sights!

We even segwayed (is that the right wording?!?) by the waterfront!

Afterwards, we went out to Elephants delicatessen for dinner.

We enjoyed chicken nuggets...

and burgers....

and even tacos!

I love Elephants so much! We usually go there while waiting at the airport, since there's a mini Elephants there.

It's also such a great place to go to during any season, for any occasion or with any group, since it's such a crowd pleaser and it never lets you down!

With cousin time, Pip's Donuts, the Falls and Segways, that day was SO much fun.
😄
